Avril Lavigne is a Canadian singer-songwriter who shot to fame in 2002 following the release of her debut album, Let Go, which topped album charts around the world. The success of her first album was matched by further chart-topping albums: Under My Skin in 2004 and The Best Damn Thing in 2007.
Avril's fourth studio album, Goodbye Lullaby, was released in March 2011. The album features a more stripped down approach to recording, using instruments such as the piano and acoustic guitar. Avril says of the process: "It’s stripped down. I love performing that way, so I really felt like it was time to make a record like that."
