Formerly the Leeds Academy, the O2 in Leeds is the premier concert venue in the city. Based on Cookridge Street, the Academy was originally built in 1885 and officially opened by Prince Albert. It is a Grade I Gothic Listed building.

The venue has a large room that can hold up to 2,300 concert goers plus a basement that can accommodate a further 400. The venue has gone through various name changes, as have most of the O2 Academies and was closed in 2007, reopening in 2008 with a concert by Kaiser Chiefs.

Other notable performances at the O2 Leeds have been from Hot Chip, MGMT and Wolfmother.
